Frequently Asked Questions

What parts of the body can I treat with electrolysis?

At Hair to Bare, we treat almost anywhere that hair grows.

  • Backs

  • Bikini Line, Thigh, and Lower legs

  • Chest, Breasts, and Abdomen

  • Face, including Lip, Chin, and Eyebrows

  • Underarms

  • Outer Ears

How many treatments will I need?

You will need several treatment appointments to permanently remove your unwanted hair. Each person and plan is individualized to your specific needs and end goal. Typically, you will need a treatment every week, or every other week. Treatment timelines vary, but on average last about 18 months.

How long does the treatment session last?

Each treatment plan is individually assessed. Treatments range from 15 minutes to 2 hours depending on the area being treated, density of hair growth, and aspiring degree of clearing/baldness.

Does it hurt?

Electrolysis is often compared to the sensation of a mosquito bite, or a tingling sensation. At Hair to Bare, we use the latest technology for optimal comfort. We also have recommendations to remedy any discomfort such as cold compress, pain relievers, or topical numbing creams.

How do I prepare the area for treatment?

Immediately stop plucking, tweezing, threading, or waxing as a method of hair removal. The only temporary method of hair removal should be shaving. Leave 2-3 days of hair growth prior to your appointment. Moisturize the skin. Hydrate the days leading up to the appointment. Avoid caffeine the day of the treatment.

How do I care for the area after treatment?

Keep the area clean, cool, and dry. For 24 hours after treatment we ask that you avoid any activities that may irritate the area, such as prolonged sun, tanning, exercising (sweating), and applying make up.

Are there any risks or complications?

Electrolysis is very safe. Very slight risks of infection or scarring exist. These risks are very low when choosing a licensed electrolysis practice, such as Hair to Bare.

You may experience some temporary slight redness after treatment, lasting up to a few days post treatment.
